After training at The London College of Fashion in hairdressing and wig making, followed by six years with Lancôme cosmetics I was lucky enough to be taken on by Central TV as a trainee make-up artist. I was with them for nearly two decades, working on a diverse range of programmes from Emu's Pink Windmill, Frankie Howard on The Ark Royal, Boon and Outside Edge, Family Fortunes and Supermarket Sweep to name but a few!
In 2002 I became a freelance make-up artist and now happily combine working in industry with passing my knowledge and skills onto others. I am a qualified assessor and teacher gaining my Certificate of Education at The University of Bedford in 2009 and currently teach a level 3 media make-up course at Insync college in Retford. I also work at BBC East Midlands news training and advising the news presenters on their hair and make up.
I have worked with the British Olympic Synchronised Swimming Squad and the England Diving team including Tom Daley and Monique Gladding, preparing them for last year’s 2012 Olympics.
Currently I am teaching morticians how to airbrush! This involves teaching them colour correction techniques alongside camouflage and beauty work.
I have been involved with Airbase Make-Up since 2007 after meeting them at IMATS make-up show and discovering they were also based in Nottingham. I currently oversee the training in Nottingham and London. I was lucky enough to be asked to do the make-up for all Airbase publicity material, so the make up you see on your training manuals, posters etc was all done by me!
Airbrushing is a passion to me; it’s my new best friend and it will be yours too! Treat your airbrush with kindness and respect and it will stay with you for a lifetime!
