Join elite Pro Team member, Sarah backstage

A job for our most elite Pro Team member, Sarah Hoyle - one of our most highly regarded industry specialists and certainly no stranger to the hustle and bustle of such events, Sarah provides us with the backstage insight we’re all waiting for;

“Every time I’m greeted by rows of models all sitting wearing their pre-makeup facemasks, hair stacked in rollers with nail technicians perfecting the most preened nails, I get excited.”

With rooms packed wall to wall with photographers, crew, make-up artists, hair stylists, rails of clothing, bags… and of course, Chanel herself was amongst the organised chaos calmly directing people where to go and what to do. Sarah introduced herself to Paula, a member of the make-up team and Chanel herself and they discussed the finest details of the looks to be created – not one single detail missed.

A signature #FastAndFlawless finish for #LFW2019

Airbase Ultra Foundation was used as a long-lasting base for the foundation and our best-selling illumi gold and silver Airbase highlighters were shimmered across the shoulders, leaving a natural glowing look on all of the girls – divine. Sarah explains;

“known for its durability on set as well as the perfect base it creates, Airbase performs perfectly under the intense lights and heat of a show like this. The highlighters are incredible too, when airbrushed they give the most perfect shimmer – subtle and elegant.”

Make-up artists were spraying and brushing and pencilling as fast as they could to ensure every model looked perfect enough to represent Chanel’s collection. Once the heels were on, each girl towered above the rest of the crew and photographers in the room, as their elegant long legs took strides to be envied back down the hall to the main catwalk.

A flawless performance for more than just the complexions

The show ran smoothly and the collection was well received, the goody bags for the attendees loved and Chanel and her team delighted. Sarah adds;

“One of the real highlights was meet Kate Grant, the first ever model with down syndrome to walk LFW. I had the honour to interview her for our show highlights video and found her such an inspiration. Her positivity was infectious and her determination not to let her disability get in the way of her dream was motivating”
